Penguins: 18 month - 4 year Olds
Designed for the parent to be with their child ages 6 months through 19 months.
Skills addressed in Penguins include:
-Water adjustment;
-Water enjoyment;
-Independent arm and/or leg movement while being supported;
-Blowing bubbles;
-Assisted front and back floats;
-Underwater exploration while being supported;
-Assisted “jump-ins” from either the side of the pool or from the tot dock;
-Introduction to assisted rollovers, both front-to-back and back-to-front;
-Use of life jackets/personal flotation devices (P.F.D.s);
-Recognition of verbal cues;
-Hold on to the pool gutter/edge of pool

Polar Bears: 18 month - 4 year Olds
Designed for the parent to be with their child ages 20 months through 4 years.
Skills addressed in Polar Bears include:
-Water enjoyment and participation in class;
-Following directions, and Independently trying to do skills;
-Assisted entry and exit form pool;
-Bubble blowing, arm and leg movements;
-Assisted front and back floats;
-Introduction to listening to instructor/waiting turn;
-Use of lifejacket/personal flotation devices (P.F.D.s)

Tadpole: 3-4 Year Olds
Designed to be a 3 year old’s first independent water experience.
Child must be able to get into water without crying; ideally child has been in daycare and/or preschool program, separated from parent.

Shrimp: 4-5 Year Olds
Offered as separate class for a 4-5 year old’s first water experience.
Child must be able to get into the pool without crying; ideally child has been enrolled in prior swim classes and/or daycare and/or preschool program, separated from parent.
Clam : 4-5 Year Olds
Interest list only:
Prerequisites: Passed Shrimp recently, and/or independently :
No separation issues from parent/guardian, listens/follows directions ; enjoys water/participates in class; climbing in and out of the pool; putting head under water and holding breath, 5 seconds; bobbing with rhythmic inhalation and exhalation; independent front float, 5 seconds; front glide, 4 feet; front glide with flutter kick, 6 feet; beginning front crawl, 8 feet: independent front float, rolling over to assisted back float; assisted back float; jump into shallow water, return to starting point.

Prerequisites: A class designed for the first time student 6 years of age and older.
Must be comfortable enough to enter water with minimal assistance ie enter water separated from parent.
Bass: 6 Years & Older
Prerequisites: Passed Angefish recently, and/or independently do the following;
Front float, 8 seconds; front glide, 8 feet; front glide with flutter kick,10 feet; beginning front crawl,12 feet; roll over from front glide onto back and then back onto stomach; independent back float,10 seconds, with recovery; back glide with flutter kick, 5 feet; elementary backstroke with flutter kick,10 feet.
Catfish: 6 Years & Older
Prerequisites: Passed Bass recently, and/or independently do the following;
Front glide with flutter kick,15 feet; beginning front crawl, 20 feet; roll over by taking a single arm stroke; independent back float, 20 seconds, with recovery; back glide with flutter kick,10 feet; elementary backstroke with flutter kick, 20 feet; jump into shallow or deep water, return to pool edge; sitting dive.
Trout: 6 Years & Older
Prerequisites: Passed Catfish recently, and/or independently do the following;
Front crawl with side breathing,15 yards; independent back float, 30 seconds; back crawl, 8 yards; elementary backstroke with flutter kick, 25 yards; jump off diving board, swim to pool edge; treading water, 20 seconds; underwater swim, 6 feet.
Salmon: 6 Years & Older
Prerequisites: Passed Trout recently, and/or independently do the following;
Front crawl with side breathing, 25 yards; back crawl, 25 yards; elementary backstroke with whip kick, 15 yards; treading water, 30 seconds; underwater swimming, 10 feet.
Middle School: Beginner and Middle School: Intermediate
For those in middle school, if truly a first-time learner, or if its been a while, this special class will be split based on levels as presented on first day!
The Middle School - Beginner class addresses the following skills:
- Front crawl with rhythmic side breathing – 15 yards
- Back float – 30 seconds
- Elementary backstroke with flutter kick – 25 yards
- Elementary backstroke with beginning whip kick – 25 yards
- Back crawl – 8 yards
- Jump into deep water, return to starting point
- Tread water – 20 seconds
- Swim underwater – 6 feet
- Introduction to the diving board, swimming to pool’s edge
- Introduction to both a kneeling dive and a standing dive
- Safety skills – Introduction to the use of lifejackets/personal floatation devices (P.F.D.’s); Swimming while wearing a t-shirt; H.E.L.P. Position
The Middle School - Intermediate class addresses the following skills:
- Front crawl with alternate side breathing
- Elementary backstroke
- Back crawl
- Breaststroke
- Sidestroke
- Introduction to the butterfly stroke
- Introduction to the rotary (egg beater) kick
- Introduction to front crawl flip turns
- Combined skill: Ten (10) minute, continuous swim using any combination of front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke and/or sidestroke
- Safety skills – Swim while fully clothed; H.E.L.P. positon while fully clothed; disrobe in the water; use clothes as an inflatable device; survival float – 3 minutes
