Lifeguard

Department:  Aquatics

Title:  Lifeguard

Reports to: Aquatics Supervisor / Aquatics Director

Position length:  Continuous – 10-30 Hours per week(varies)

​Become part of our team!  River Road Park and Recreation District is always open to receiving applications for part-time lifeguards!  Experienced lifeguards are encouraged to apply.  Day time, evening and, possibly weekend hours may be available.  A.R.C., E.A. and/or StarGuard certification required.

Not certified?  River Road Park and Recreation District offers a StarGuard Lifeguard Training Program, to be determined each season (winter, spring, summer, fall).  Interested candidates are encouraged to apply so as to be on an “interest list” for the 26 hours week-long lifeguard training program. 

SEE SAMPLE SCHEDULE BELOW-- NOTE:  A portion of the StarGuard Lifeguard Training Program is “on-line”.  Candidates will be hired upon successful completion of the course.

SAMPLE SCHEDULE -26 hours training program , with required on-line component, to be completed BEFORE class and pool schedule, and attendance is REQUIRED of all course sessions.

General “In-Person” Course Days (normally 4 days in the same week):  

     

CLASS ONE – 5 hours

CLASS TWO – 5 hours

CLASS THREE – 8 hours

CLASS FOUR – 8 hours         

Cost of Course:    $120.00   (will includes all course materials.)

  

Lifeguard Course Pre-Requisites:

Sixteen (16) years of age

Ability to swim 100 yards

Ability to perform a feet first surface dive to a depth of twelve feet (12’)

Swim Lesson Instructor

Department:  Aquatics

Title:  Swim Instructor

Reports to: Aquatics Supervisor / Aquatics Director

Position length:  Continuous –  3-6 Hours per week(varies through year)

Help us rebuild our swim instructor team! River Road Park and Recreation District is looking for Swim Instructors, preferably with 1 year or more experience, and/or has WSI.  For those without experience but interested we will be offering our in-house training program!!

The general time we are looking for swim instructors is :

Evening classes -Monday and Wednesday nights, 6:30-7:30 pm, and/or

Tuesday and Thursday nights, 6:30-8:00 pm. 

Saturday mid-morning classes 10:30 am to 12:00 noon.

SEasonal Park Grounds Aide

Department:  Maintenance

Title:  Seasonal Park Grounds Aide

Reports to:  Park Grounds Specialist

Position length:  Seasonal until September 30, 2023

 

Position Purpose

As a Park Grounds Aide, you will have the opportunity to work in a beautiful outdoor setting while helping to maintain and improve the park grounds. You will be part of a team that is dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for park visitors. If you are passionate about the outdoors and have a strong work ethic, this could be the perfect job for you! We are looking for motivated individuals with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and with others. Previous experience in ground maintenance is preferred, but not required. This is also a great opportunity for entry level job seekers to learn new skills and gain valuable experience in the park and recreation industry.

The Park Grounds Aide will be responsible for a variety of tasks involving general grounds maintenance as well as aiding with shelter rentals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Mowing / weed whacking, irrigating, weeding and raking,

  • Emptying trashcans, Litter removal, limited janitorial

  • Setup and cleanup of outdoor shelter rentals

  • Monitor and report any safety hazards or damage to park grounds

  • Assist with special events and projects as needed.

Working Conditions

20 – 40 Hours a week/ Daytime Shifts Monday - Friday and daytime/evening weekend shifts available.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Previous grounds maintenance / customer service experience is preferred

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred

 

Wages: $14.20 - $18.12 hourly based on experience
