Camp Spark | Entering Kindergarten: Dessert Days 

We are excited to meet your kindergarteners! Camp hours for our kindergarteners are 9:00-1:00. Please make sure that you have filled out our summer camp permission form, youth behavior management agreement, and the non-prescribed medication form.

 

Please send your child with these items daily:

  • Lunch (We are unable to take the kindergarteners to the free lunch program because it is during our swim time)
  • Water Bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Swimsuit
  • Towel
  • Appropriate clothing for running and playing
  • Shoes that your child can run in!

(Remember to put their name on all of their belongings!)

Camp Seeker | Entering Grades 1-3: Final Countdown

5. Monday - Beach Day: Wear your sunglasses and coolest beach clothes and get ready to have a bast in the sun today!

4. Tuesday – Tie Die Tuesday: Bring a white clothing item to camp today and get ready to create some Tie Die magic.

3. Wednesday - Wacky Wednesday: Today is all about seeing how creatively wacky we all are.
Come to camp with crazy hair and wear your wildest outfit.

2. Thursday - PJ Day: No need to get dressed for camp today, just roll right out of bed and come to camp in your PJs to enjoy some tasty pancakes and watch an end of summer movie.

1. Friday - It's a party: Let's celebrate the last day of camp with some of our favorite camp games and activities. We will wrap up the day by all getting together to enjoy a special treat and say goodbye to all our new friends.

Please note that there is no Free lunch program this week. Your child will need to bring a Packed lunch with them to camp.

Here are some to dos before your child’s 1st day of camp:

Forms that need to be filled out before the first day of camp. (All forms will be attached to this email.) Forms can be emailed to GeannaH@rrpark.org or turned in at the park’s main office in person.

    *Plan to spend a few extra minutes during drop off on the first day of camp to fill out any paperwork not turned in prior to the start of camp.

    • If your child has any special needs, allergies, and/or medical conditions, you can email me or talk with your child’s leaders at drop off.

    *Form only need to be filled out once for the summer

    Check-in for all camp seeker groups will be at the Basketball court from 7:30-9:00 AM.

    Items your child should bring to camp with them:

    • Camp Seeker will provide both morning and afternoon snacks for all campers.
    • When checking out your child, leaders will be asking to see an ID and making sure the ID matches a name on your child’s approved pick up list.
    • Swimming
      • Camp Seeker will be swimming in the inside pool at the park. We will have life jackets available for kids that are still learning how to swim. We will also have leaders swimming in the pool with the kids as well as on the deck of the pool to help the campers.

    What not to bring to camp.

    • Toys (these tend to get lost, broken, or start arguments between the kids)
      • Pokémon cards
      • Stuffed animals
      • Trinkets
      • Dolls
      • Legos
    • Electronics, they could get damaged or become missing.
      • Cellphones may be brought to camp. However, cell phones need to remain in backpacks and not used in camp unless it is an emergency.
      • Cell phone watches are allowed. We do ask that they not be used during the day by campers unless discussed with your child’s group leader prior to the start of camp.

    Camp hours:

    • Before care hours 7:30-9:00
    • Planned Camp activities 9:00-4:00
    • Extended care hours are 4:00-5:30

    *There is no extra charge for before or after care.

    5. Monday - Mismatch Monday: Let’s start the week in style! Dots, stripes,—today is the day to throw fashion to the wind and wear whatever your heart desires.

    4. Tuesday - Tired Tuesday: No need to get dressed—come to camp in your PJs! Enjoy a cozy pancake breakfast and a relaxing movie.

    3. Wednesday - Wonderful Wednesday: Let’s celebrate all the wonderful adventures we’ve had this summer.

    2.Thursday - Tie-Die Thursday: Bring something white to camp and turn it into a fun, colorful creation!

    1. Friday - Fantastic Friday: Time to finish summer camp with a fantastically fun day! We’ll play our favorite games and say goodbye to the super friends we’ve made this summer.

    This week the Camp Rambler groups will be heading to Skinners Butte Park to play for a bit then getting a scoop of ice cream from Handel’s ice cream shop to celebrate the end of summer. This weeks field trip will be from 9:30-12:00, so that campers will be back for lunch and swimming.

      Camp Odyssey | Entering Grades 7-9: Xtreme Sports 

      Monday 8/24- Diamond Hill Paintball

      We will be heading to Diamond Hill Paintball in Harrisburg for some low impact paintball fun. Please be sure to send your child with clothing that can get dirty and covers exposed skin, as well as a clean change of clothes, along with closed toed athletic shoes. Your child will not be allowed to participate in any open toed sandals, including Crocs or clogs.

      Tuesday 8/25-Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum 

      We will be heading to Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum in McMinnville to check out the Spruce Goose and everything aviation. We will be returning at 5:00pm, traffic permitting. If we are late in getting back, it will be posted on the Weekly Spotlight page (see below) and the information about our arrival will be emailed to parents.

       

       

      Wednesday 8/26- Elevation Bouldering and Swimming at River Road Park and Rec

      We will be heading to Elevation Bouldering Gym in the morning to flex our climbing muscles then heading back to River Road Park for swimming in the afternoon. Please be sure to send your child with a swimsuit and towel this day!

      Thursday 8/27- Rafting the McKenzie with Helfrich Outfitters

      Please make sure that your child has clothing and shoes to get wet in, as well as dry clothes to change into after rafting. Please be sure that you arrive at the Maxwell Hub between 8am and 8:30am on this day since we will be driving up the McKenzie River to our put-in area. If you are not checked in by 8:30am, we will be leaving without you. We will be returning by 5pm on this day, though it is dependent on the river flow.  You must sign the Helfrich Outfitters waiver in order to attend this field trip. On the waiver, make sure to check the box on the bottom marked “I WANT a helmet”, as all youth are required to have one through River Road Park and Recreation.  We will be rafting from the Forest Glen Boat Landing to the Helfrich Landing.

      Please dress in clothes to get wet, including footwear (sandals with a back strap, water shoes, old sneakers without socks)Please do not send your child in jeans or sweatshirts for the river. Quick dry fabrics are best.  Please make sure to send your child with a water bottle and lunch for rafting. We will have a chance to change clothes after we get off the river, so please be sure to send a towel and dry clothes for after!

      Please download, fill out, and bring all of these forms to your camper's first day of their first week camp. The forms will be applied for all attended weeks of camp this summer unless otherwise noted or updated.
