Water Exercise & Lap Swim

Lap Swim, Individual Water Exercise, Fitness Center and Spas are available by appointment only.  
All reservations MUST be made in advance and all reservations MUST be prepaid.  Drop-ins are not permitted.

In-District residents may reserve up to three (3) visits, beginning every Thursday at 8a, for use of the facility the following week. 


Out-of-District residents may reserve up to three (3) visits, beginning every Thursday at 10a, for use of the facility the following week.


Per the Oregon Health Authority, the sauna is NOT available at this time.

 

 

Class Information

Paid participants who are currently enrolled in any water exercise class will be eligible to re-enroll at the end of the current session, prior to new attendees. For current registration dates and times, please see the front cover of the program.

 

Silver & Fit/Renew Active members can enroll in all water exercise classes unless noted. Current members attending class must attend at least 70 percent of their classes to be eligible for re-enrollment the following session. 

Shallow Water Aquatic Classes
1. Must be comfortable in waist to mid-chest water.
2. Must be able to enter and exit the pool with minimal assistance.

 

Deep Water Aquatic Classes
1. Must be comfortable in water too deep to stand in (5-12 feet)
2. Ability to wear appropriate deep water flotation equipment and perform basic water aerobics.
3. Must be able to enter and exit the pool with minimal assistance.

 

All new Silver & Fit / Renew Active participants must first take an orientation course. These courses will be free of charge and will be held every other Wednesday beginning at 12:45pm. Participants must register and attend prior to signing up for a water exercise class. All orientations will be limited to a maximum of 3 participants. If you are under 16, please contact the Aquatic Supervisor for permission to enroll in a class. Credits/refunds are not granted for missed classes. 

45 Minute Classes

Aqua Basics: Shallow Water

Beginning to steady conditioning and range of motion level. Designed for semi-active adults. Class provides 30-45 minutes of a “return to basics” exercise routine, in water depth of 3.5 to 5 feet, to build up joint range of motion movement, overall body core (abdominal and lower back) strengthening, and overall muscle endurance, balance and flexibility segments. NOTE! Class level will be kept for all beginners. Priority registration given to those needing a “basic” class.  Other adults are permitted to register/drop-in with instructor approval.
 

Aqua Basics: Deep Water 

Beginning to steady aerobic conditioning level. Designed for semi-active adults, who can remain upright while wearing a floatation belts, in water depth of 5 to 12 feet. Class provides 45 minutes of a “return to basics” exercise routine to build up joint range of motion movement, overall body core (abdominal and lower back) strengthening, and overall muscle endurance, balance and flexibility segments. NOTE! Class level will be kept for all beginners level. Priority registration given to those needing a “basic” class. Other adults are permitted to register/drop-in with instructor approval.
 

60 Minute Classes

Motivated Seniors: Shallow Water + Deep Water

Steady to moderate aerobic conditioning level. Designed for semi-active and/or older adults. Class provides in-water exercise, beginning with 15-20 minutes in shallow water (3.5 to 5 feet) then progresses to the deep water (5 feet to 12 feet) for 35-40 min. The class is designed to develop flexibility, strength, endurance and agility. Priority registration given to ages 55+. Other adults are permitted to register/drop-in with instructor approval.
 

Seniors In Motion: Deep Water

Moderate to active aerobic conditioning level. Designed for semi-active and/or older adults. Class provides up to 60 minutes of conditioning exercises, including a 20-25 minute aerobic fitness segment, in water depth of 5 feet to 12 feet.  Exercises will also focus on enhancing flexibility, range of motion, muscle strength and toning. Priority registration given to ages 55+. Other adults permitted to register/drop-in with instructor approval.
 

Seniors In Motion: Shallow Water

Moderate to active aerobic conditioning level.  Designed for semi-active and/or older adults. Class provides up to 60 minutes of in-water conditioning exercises, including a 20-25 minute aerobic fitness segment, in water depth of 3.5 to 5 feet.  Exercises will also focus on balance, flexibility, range of motion, muscle strength and toning. Priority registration given to ages 55+. Other adults permitted to register/drop-in with instructor approval.
 

Water Aerobics: Deep Water

Active aerobic conditioning level. Designed for active adults. Class provides up to 60 minutes of conditioning exercises, including a 20-25 minute aerobic fitness segment, in water depth of 5 feet to 12 feet. Exercises will also focus on enhancing flexibility, range of motion, muscle strength and toning. Priority registration given to adults capable of an aerobic pace. Other adults are permitted to register/drop-in with instructor approval.

Aqua Stretch™ - Specialty Water Exercise Program

Aqua Stretch™ utilizes assisted stretching and myofascial release techniques – in a one-to-one shallow aquatic environment – to increase flexibility and, in many instances, to reduce chronic pain.
Aqua Stretch™ has helped individuals experiencing:

Lower back, neck, joint or muscle pain, including arthritis, headaches & fibromyalgia.

Idiopathic pain or nerve dysfunction, i.e., ovarian pain, plantar fasciitis, etc.

Soft tissue prep, for synergy with massage, chiropractic, OMT and cranial work. 

Post-surgical rehabilitation, i.e., meniscus, hip and knee replacement, post-natal, etc.

Pain management programs, including accidents, combat & sports injuries.

Scoliosis and other spinal complications, including degenerative or herniated disks.

Psychological – may reduce anxiety, PMS, etc.  May also increase mental clarity.

Sleep problems.

In-Water Exercise Orientation/Review

New to Water Exercise or returning after an absence? Register for a 30-minute, one-on-one in-water orientation to the world of water fitness. Emphasis will be on proper water exercise equipment use, as well as identifying correct posture and standard exercises for shallow and/or deep water. Upon completion, the instructor will recommend the next step to take for your water exercise endeavors.
