KVAL T.V. & Ring of Fire

We will have the opportunity to visit one of our local television stations, KVAL on Blanton Heights. The tour will include a visit to the news studio with a demonstration of the chroma key technology (green screen) and teleprompter, a visit to the digital editing suites with some example videos, and a visit to the audio room with a demonstration of audio productions. After our tour we will have lunch at a restaurant that was rated 3rd in the Best of Eugene. Your cost includes transportation and lunch.

This is a rare and special opportunity for you to spend some time with one of our Willamette Valley's most prolific, insightful writers and speakers. Dorcas is a homemaker and mother of six. Stitches in Bloom - Quilt Show

Today, we travel to the Oregon Garden in Silverton to take part in their annual quilt show. This show is considered one of the finest in the Willamette Valley. There will be a fabulous array of quilts from the Pacific Northwest. In addition, quilt related vendors, lectures and demonstrations will be available. We will be enjoying a box lunch at the garden. When you sign up indicate your choice of sandwich: smoked turkey, ham, roast beef or veggie with either Havarti or pepper cheese. Everything is included in the cost. Be there or be "quilt square".

Law and Order I - Oregon Public Safety Academy

Our law and order series begins here. Their mission is to "promote excellence in public safety by delivering quality training and developing and upholding professional standards for police, fire, corrections, parole, probation and telecommunications personnel. They also license security providers and private investigators in Oregon." We will visit their facility to learn about what they do and how they go about it. It will be a real eye opener and prepare us for the next step in the Law and Order process. Lunch is included in the cost.

Sing, Sing, Sing - A Tribute To Benny Goodmanarrow

When he played his clarinet with his band, it was truly something to behold. You had to dance! Yes, you remember it well. He launched many careers and brought swing to Carnegie Hall. Glory Bee Honey & Papa's Soul Food Kitchen

GloryBee started in the family garage of Dick and Pat Turanski in 1975 with a dream of providing natural, healthy ingredients for the people of their town. Dick describes those early days as "a simple family honey stand, farming honey in the backyard and processing it in the back of the garage--the deep freeze even doubled as the sales counter". Over thirty years later, they are still producing great honey. We will visit their new plant on Highway 99 and see how they have become one of the biggest suppliers of honey. Getting to know Dayton, Oregon

Today, we visit the 45th town in our "getting to know the towns of Oregon" series. Dayton is a small city with a rich and varied history. Incorporated in 1880, it is the first city in Oregon to be designated a national historic resource with dozens of places listed on the national historic registry. It is nestled in the Yamhill valley along the river by the same name surrounded by wine country. We have enlisted the services of a knowledgeable ambassador who will show and tell us about the past, present and future of this special place. Anatomy of a Hospital - McKenzie Willamette

At one time or other, a hospital visit or stay has been a part of most everyone's lives. Today, we find out about what a hospital does, how they do it, why they do it and why health care is so expensive. There will be plenty of time for questions. We will also receive a tour and enjoy lunch there. This is a unique and fascinating inside look at an important part of our health care system. Lunch is included in the trip cost.

Voyage of Discovery

Today, we journey to OMSI in Portland to view their exhibit "Body Works-the brain. This is provided by the same group that did the outstanding Body Works exhibit we saw a few years ago. People who went are still praising it. While there, we will have an opportunity to see the current production in their Omni max theater and view the planetarium show. All in all, it will be a day of exploring new and wonderful things. Everything is included except lunch which will be available for purchase in the OMSI cafeteria. This is a very unique trip for our River Road travel family. Those who go will be very glad they did.

Law and Order II - Lane County Sheriff Office

This is the second in our ongoing series of trips designed to show and inform you how law and order functions in Lane County. Today, we visit the Sheriff's office to learn how it is structured, the services it provides, how it provides these services and how it interacts with the other parts of the law and order system. This will be an eye opening experience and may even provide some surprises. This is a very important office, but many do not know much about it. Be one of the enlightened few. Lunch is included in the trip cost.

Historic Stagecoach Inn and Ghost Town

Take a nostalgic tour back in time to visit an old stagecoach inn now with rooms to rent and a wonderful restaurant. We will have a delicious lunch at the Wolf Creek Inn and receive a tour showing among other things, where Clark Gable and Carol Lombard stayed as well as where Jack London wrote one of his famous novels. This will be followed by a tour of the ghost town - Golden, Oregon - to hear about it's past, present and future. Out of the ordinary and truly enjoyable would describe this day perfectly. A St. Patrick's Day Celebration

This holiday truly begs to be celebrated. We do so with the legendary tenor - John McDermott in concert. He has performed around the world and his rendering of "Danny Boy" has been proclaimed as the best ever sung. He has appeared on PBS with the Irish Tenors and won countless awards. "He has a voice by which all other tenors are compared." He appears with the Molly Malone Irish Dancers. Following this show, we will have an "Everyone is an Irishman today" dinner at a nearby Portland restaurant. Goodwill Hop & Newmans' Fish & Chips

Casino Grand Tour

We have been cooped up for too long. Time to get out and about. Today, we journey to three of Oregon's premiere casinos. We will start with coffee and donuts at River Road Park. We then head for Three Rivers Casino in Florence. Then we go to the Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City where we will have lunch. Our final stop will be the Spirit Mountain Casino in Grand Ronde where we will have dinner. At each stop, we will have time to explore the casinos and have fun. Along the way, we will enjoy, country and ocean views, good food and the great traveling companions in the River Road travel family. What's not to like? We will also take wheelbarrows to bring home all of our winnings. All meals are included in the cost. This trip is bound to fill up fast. so sign up early. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

"The 25th Annual Spelling Bee" is hilarious musical comedy at it's finest. It chronicles the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the championship of a life time. It has won Tony awards and played to audiences throughout the USA. For these unlikliest of heroes, this is one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time. We travel to one of our favorite theaters,The Pentacle, for this production. Before the play, we will enjoy a "spelling contest" dinner at a nearby restaurant. You don't want to miss this. A Trip of Titanic Proportions

This trip can only be taken once every 100 years. In April 1912, the Titanic sunk in the Atlantic Ocean with great loss of life. Earlier in the evening of this fateful night, first class passengers were served a spectacular- eleven course dinner with seven wines and a cognac. We will enjoy the exact, same meal they had, presented in all it's elegance at the Latitude Restaurant in Dallas, Oregon. It will be served over the course of four hours, during which we will be serenaded by the Moonfall singers with music from the Broadway show "Titanic" and Captain Smith will report on sea conditions as we sail into the night. NOTE: Dress will be formal or period costume to add to the fun. Pictures will be taken so you will be sure to remember this auspicious occasion. There will be other surprises as well.
