DEMENTIA & ALZHEIMER’S SUPPORT GROUP (Ongoing)

Is someone in your life experiencing short term memory loss, Dementia, or Alzheimer’s? Sierra Oaks of Santa Clara Residential Care & Memory Care Community is pleased to announce a support group for family members & care providers of people who have Dementia or Alzheimer’s. The group meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. Meet with other people who are going through similar difficulties. Learn from each other as well as support each other during this life transition. If you are planning to attend or need evening support group please call Kim Tallman at 461-4898. We thank the Alzheimer’s Association for supporting this group.

Blood Pressure Check (ongoing)

Have your blood pressure checked on a regular basis by a professional nurse. Third Thursday of every month.  Held at River Road Park Annex (1055 River Road).

Foot Care (Ongoing)

A nurse, trained in foot care, conducts individual half-hour sessions. The time is used for toenail cleaning and trimming. Please bring a towel and a basin with you to your appointment. No refund for “no shows or day of appointment cancellations.” In fairness to the nurse and other clients, those who arrive more than 10 minutes later than their scheduled appointment will forfeit their spot and fee.

Need A Computer?

Do you have a family member or friend who would like to Explore the Internet or email your family and friends.  Over 170 computers placed so far.

Qualifications:
- Be a Senior Citizen or a person with disability (SSDI).
- No economic test or requirements other than Senior Citizen, SSI or SSDI.
- Do not have an existing computer at home-new users only.
- Have a credit card or debit vard with a Visa/MasterCard logo (for internet access - $10.95 mo.) Paid to the internet service provider – not this program.  No contracts – month to month.
- A place (desk-table) for a computer system and a active home phone outlet nearby the computer.

One time costs:
A fee of $30 will be charged for the Computer, Set-up and Basic Computer instruction. A surge protector - $6-$10 (you provide: A telephone extension line to reach the computer  $1-$5. It is highly suggested that a mentor accompany the computer recipient at time of pick-up. This computer is yours - no strings attached! The computers are donated by a large local medical business. The refurbished Dell Desktop Computers are 3-4 years old and have at least the following  specifications:  900+MHZ – 256+MB Ram – 10+GB HDD – 56K Modem w/call waiting a 15” Monitor– Keyboard – Mouse – Sound Card -  Modern Operating System and Software.  Most units do not have a CD Player Please call: The River Road Park and Recreation District Office – 688-4052 and ask about the Senior Computer Placement Program.
