Senior Hikes & Trips
Registration Information
In district residents walk-ins only may begin registering for senior trips at 7:30 am on Friday, January 8th.
Out of district residents who attend the “Trip Presentation” scheduled for 12 noon on Friday, January 8th may begin registering immediately following the meeting at 1:00 pm. Registration will be first come / first serve for those who attend. When you arrive for the meeting you will be given a number and you will register in numerical order following the presentation. Numbers will not be given out before 11:30am and will not be given out once the presentation has begun. Presentation will be held at Emerald Park. 1400 Lake Dr.
If you don’t attend the presentation and you are out of district, you may begin registering on Monday, January 11th at 7:30am. Phone registration at 9:30am.
1) You are registered and guaranteed a space on the bus or in a class at the time we receive your payment. For your convenience, if you are unable to pay in person, you may pay for trips and classes by charging it on your VISA or MasterCard or by mailing a check. (See back page for mail-in registration form.)
2) If you cancel your trip reservation, a $5 service charge will be deducted from the original cost of the trip. Refunds will not be given for day of trip cancellations or “no shows” or once River Road has paid out money. Refunds will be paid by check; please allow 1 week to receive your check in the mail. If you want your refund in the form of a credit there will be no $5.00 charge.
3) People under 55 years of age may go on a special waiting list. Two weeks prior to the trip date this list will be called to fill any empty spaces. If they are still interested in registering for the trip, they may do so at that time.
4) You may register for yourself and one other person for trips.
Hikes

Get out and get active! Wear sturdy, comfortable shoes or boots; bring water, sun screen, a sack lunch in a small day pack and money for an after hike treat stop. A walking stick is recommended. Participants should be in good condition and have good balance.

Urban Hike- Riverbend
Today we'll follow the river walk by the hospital and detour to the site where the ferries used to depart on the McKenzie. We'll have lunch at the Outback Steakhouse following the hike.

Buford Park
Come with us as we look for early wild flowers on a section of Mt. Pisgah. This beautiful park is located close to town and offers hikers the opportunity to marvel in many beautiful, diverse native plants and wildlife. This is not a summit climb. It's about 2.5 miles with some uphill portions.

Trip participants should arrive at River Road Park 10-15 minutes prior to departure time. For the convenience of other Park patrons, we ask that participants on all-day trips park their vehicles in the back part of the parking lot, near Lake Drive.

Stitches In Bloom Quilt Show
Quilters unite! This quilt show is fairly close (Silverton) so we are hitting the road for this one! Animal Insight
Have you ever wondered what agencies in our area take responsibility for dealing with animal problems - strays, enforcing regulations, licensing, arranging for adoptions and much much more? White Wolf Wonderland
Come meet the wolves! The owners and operators of the White Wolf Sanctuary have been working with wolves for over 20 years. They accept only pure arctic wolves and currently have 10 on their 60 acre estate located near the small town of Tidewater, Oregon. Today we'll get to see the wolves up close and personal- perhaps even touch them. This is an experience you will not soon forget and what some will even remember as a spiritual event. Getting To Know Reedsport – Winchester Bay
Once again, we are hitting the road to learn about some other Oregon towns. We will be traveling southwesterly to the coastal communities of Reedsport and Winchester Bay. They are the gateway to 40 miles of undisturbed beaches and the tallest dunes in Oregon. They also have the only lighthouse on the west coast with a red lens. Getting To Know Sutherlin
Hop on the bus Gus! Today, we're driving south of Eugene to learn about the town of Sutherlin. This is a community that we have all driven by or passed through many times but probably never visited. It's a situated in a picturesque valley with much to offer. It's 8,000 residents bask in the natural wonders that surround them, and today, so will we. Our Ambassador is a long time resident who has witnessed Sutherlin's changes and writes a newspaper column called 'New in Sutherlin and Beyond.” We are very fortunate to havet him because, if anyone knows the ins and outs of this town, he does! Behind The Scenes At The Portland Zoo

Spring In The Country
