Arthritis Exercise Program

Silver & Fit/Optum Fitness class. The Arthritis Exercise Program uses gentle activities to help people with arthritis increase joint flexibility and range of motion, maintain muscle strength and decrease pain. River Road Park and Recreation District offers several different options for entry into our fitness classes. We offer some classes as registered classes and some classes as fitness pass classes, with several opportunities for drop-in participation as well. A fitness class pass allows you a specific number of visits to certain fitness classes. See below for a list of classes.

 

All Fitness Pass sales are final. No refunds will be issued for unused visits. Drop in class fee can only be applied toward the cost of a Fitness Pass within 24 hours of attending the class is was purchased for.

Outdoor Fit

Guys and Ladies!  Come join us for the challenge.  A fit test will be performed on day one, and the last week of this session.  Outdoor Fit provides a combination of strength, cardio, muscle endurance, flexibility, core, and functional movement patterns to help you get into the best shape of your life. Then there is “the after burn.” Ann uses a scientifically proven exercise formula to create Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC) that increases your metabolism for several hours after your workout! Spring Tennis

The following sessions meet at the North Eugene High School courts located at 200 Silver Lane. River Road Park’s Tennis program is open to players of all ages and experience levels, from novice to advance. Activities taught include: fundamentals, drills, rules, positioning, strategy, and singles / doubles games. All lessons are weather permitting. Additional lessons are available by arrangement. Core Yoga for Women

Silver & Fit/Optum Fitness class. Open to all ages. This class focuses on strengthening both the upper core (arms, shoulders, chest) and the lower core (pelvic floor, low back, abdominals) using various hatha yoga poses and tantric techniques. A short yoga flow sequence helps to energize the body. Flexibility is increased. Internal organs of the pelvis are toned. Chronic low back pain, indigestion, constipation, and female sexual ailments are some of the issues addressed. Beginners welcome. Silver & Fit/Optum Fitness class. Yoga poses are modified for the senior body. Props are used to assist with balance and alignment. Conscious breathing strengthens focus and expands lungs. Emphasis on core strengthening of upper body (arms, shoulders, chest) and lower body (pelvic floor, low back, abdominals). The body and mind are energized and many old tensions are released. Healthy Qigong

Tae Kwon Do

Ages 7+. Tae Kwon Do is a traditional Korean martial art performed with empty hands, bare feet and a strong spirit. Students in the beginning class will learn kicking and hand techniques for self-defense, while developing their physical fitness and self-confidence. The intermediate class offers advanced training in non-contact sparring forms of self-defense skills for students wishing to advance in the belt ranking system. New! Capoeira Mandinga

Ages 12+. Capoeira is an ancient martial art created by African and Brazilian people long ago. It is a beautiful blend of body expression, dance, music, and movement. Classes are intended for beginners but all skill levels are welcome to practice. Build a foundation by learning the basic physical, musical, and cultural elements of capoeira. Class will start with basic warm up and movements building a foundation in Capoeira. Movement sequences will be followed by partner drills. The class will end with students applying what they have learned to the game or dance of Roda (a circle of people playing music and singing traditional capoeira songs). Personal Training

Looking for one-on-one personal training? Our ACSM and NASM Certified Personal Trainers are committed to helping people feel and move better. Each workout takes approximately forty-five (45) minutes to complete and focuses on controlled strength, balance, and movements that increase flexibility, mobility, and agility. As one of our Certified Personal Trainers states, “There’s nothing wrong with being strong.” To set up your initial individualize personal training session with either Jeff Hardisty or Ann Prokenpek, please contact the District office, 541-688-4052. Existing clients may contact the Pool office, 541-461-7777, directly. Cost: $30.00 per session.

 

 

Personal Exercise Orientation

Invest up to an hour and a half with our certified Personal Trainer and realize the difference a stronger, healthier body can make. Whether you desire to lose fat, gain strength and/or increase your cardio-respiratory endurance, our experienced trainer will design a personalized, basic exercise regime for you and show you how to effectively use the Fitness Center equipment. Our fitness center is climate controlled and offers a wide variety of selectorized weight stations, free-weights and a variety of equipment for cardiovascular improvement. The fitness center has the following equipment:

Fees

Coin lockers: 25¢. The locker fee can be added to the 10 visit pass.

Procedures for Fitness Center Use

1. All users must sign an Acknowledgement of Procedures form.

 

2. Check in at the pool office before using the Fitness Center.

 

3. Please DO NOT CROSS THE POOL DECK to enter the Fitness Center.

 

4. Please shower before using the pool/spa/sauna.

 

5. Pool is not always available during Fitness Center hours. Please refer to pool schedule.

 

6. You must be 16 years or older to use the Fitness Center.
